All Book Lovers!!!

I just found this really cool used and new bookstore called Better World Books. You can sell and donate your used books there or buy some new ones! They also support drives in the community that you can start yourself!!

They also donate money to and support causes for literacy including Invisible Children, Room to Read, NCFL, Books for Africa, and World Fund, which are all non-profit organizations. I just bought a few used books and sold a couple textbooks to them today. They are really friendly and have a great selection of books. While donating and buying used books you will also be helping stop pollution by recycling, reusing, and saving room in landfills!!

All nice and bound up

I finally got around to binding my book today. It came out pretty good I think, considering my lack of book binding skills and supplies! 

Zebras & Gazelles

I visited a zebra and antelope wildlife preserve today and got some cool pictures. There were lots of adorable little babies!!

The cute zebras with the rounded ears are very endangered and will most likely be extinct in their natural habitats by the next 10-15 years. :(

Whew!

Ok, so I FINALLY finished illustrating my little story to educate kids about the rainforest being deforested. It's about a little girl named Ariel who meets a lemur who shows her around the forest and educates her on deforestation and habitat loss. Here are a couple pictures from it!

A New Bag!

I made a cute little upcycled bag out of used plastic bags fused together. I had to do some little test ones first because it was a lot harder than it looked to make it! But this one worked out great and it's for sale in my Etsy shop now. Let me know what you think of it!!

Paper Nor Plastic

I am entering a recycled bag, handmade and decorated by me in a local recycled bag art show. I started to work on it a few weeks ago, but my dog jumped up on the bag I was painting and knocked the paint jar over, splattering paint on the whole thing, so I am starting over with a new idea. I'm going to fuse some plastic bags and paper together to create my own tote, instead of painting one! If it works out well, I am planning on making more to sell in my Etsy shop.

Celebrate Arbor Day!

Tomorrow's Arbor Day, celebrate by planting a tree! Just one acre of trees can absorb enough CO2 over the course of a year to equal driving a car 26,000 miles. This is a drawing I did today for a flyer to put around at school to remind people.

Eco Projects

I just picked up this really nifty book the other day. It has some wonderful ideas of things to make out of recycled plastic, glass and even cd cases! It's called Eco Craft by Susan Wasinger. I can't wait to try some of the projects!

On Beaches and Being Green

I found a beach this week that has been adopted by the Surfrider Foundation!! It's a gorgeous beach. If you don't know already, I donate 5% of every sale I make on my Etsy shop to the Surfrider Foundation. You can visit their website to see their accomplishments at www.surfrider.org

Also this week, I joined Greenpeace to help stop global warming and I got a cool little pin, bumpersticker, and packet!
